I was really pleasantly surprised when I revisited this demo. I’m using my little Beltone amp and that’s Eric Heywood on pedal steel. And that’s his Supro Ozark I’m playing. This version is grittier and groovier than the record and that’s how I meant it. Sweet but not fragile; a little ragged, a little magic, a little hungover. The truth is I’ve been working on a new record for a long time (among projects) and I’ve got to finish it this year. But my other hope for myself is to stumble into that something came over me feeling, new rooms, open spaces through cracks, meaning breaking open in new, unanticipated ways.
